Bye Bye Website, Hello WordPress Blog!

It’s dry, it’s stale. The images are outdated, and there’s little incentive to visit. It was bigskygold.com, my old home on the Web. Yawn.

Wake up! It’s 2011, and we both deserve better. THIS is better. Trust me.

Every few years over the last decade, I’d had some great people help me put up new websites. I’d spend hours and hours and hours putting together new snazzy pictures, consumer information and general background to assure my clients that I was competent and doing my best to be part of the twenty-first century.I’d hand over the sheaf of papers to a web developer who would assemble and post them for me.

I’d always intended to update the websites myself, but the protocol was too oppressive (unlike this wordpress blog, which is fairly idiot-proof). I’d be proud of my website! Then in a month or two, I’d think it was OK…a year would pass, and I’d begin to be embarrassed, hoping that no one really took this Internet thing seriously.  Then I would hit my ‘defensive stage’. Hey, I have a website, whadda ya want?  Finally, I’d reconcile to having to go through the whole process again.

This time, I’m throwing out the bread basket with the stale bread. Phooey! Bye, bye website. Hello WordPress blog. Check back often. I’ll be here with funny stories, great deals,  helpful advice and…TA DA!!! An online version of my HOLIDAY MENU, coming in early November.

As a reward for reading this far, and as an incentive to log on more often, I’m going to be giving away treats and gifts.  All you have to do is comment on this post. Leave your contact information, and I’ll put you in the drawing for a gift from Big Sky Gold. I’m not saying what it is right now, but I’ll give you a clue…You should never cast them before swine.

Thanks for checking this out. Feeback is appreciated.

Claire

Hi, Claire! I am hoping to make a trip to Great Falls on October 7th and was wondering if it would be possible to make an appointment with you to clean and check my ring?
    Thanks

DRAWING ON OCTOBER 23. So far, Brenda Robertson has a 100% chance of winning. REDUCE HER ODDS.

  4. Oh, this is great! Me thinks a blog is in my future. So, I’ll be checking in to see how this is working for you. Odds, now 50-50 :-)

I love this idea! I am currently working on QR codes for the museum. Plus I love to win stuff when it comes from you! I will be seeing you this week-maybe Tuesday.

  6. Love it. Great idea Claire! I do believe that you will get a better response from your blog than anything a website can do for you. By posting interesting topics and providing answers to some of the industries top questions you will keep your readers coming back for more. Once you have the readers, you can easily promote your goods, new items in your inventory, items that are on sale etc…

With the internet constantly evolving, it is almost impossible to stay ahead of the curve anyway. A top of the line e-commerce website that costs 10K today will be outdated by September 2012. Not to mention all the $$$ that will go into optimization and advertising etc…

I have had great success with blogs and hope you do too!

  12. I am still receiving compliments on the gorgeous diamond wedding set that you put together for my husband, to buy me, years ago. The last compliment was that it is beautiful and so sparkly.

I just got your postcard about your online Holiday Jewelry Menu today, and hardly got my coat off before I was typing in your website. I love the Blog and I have enjoyed reading your articles in the Great Falls magazine too. I love your wit! I’m recommending your Yogo eternity bands to my sister as bands for her solitaire wedding ring. They are beautiful!
